I think this Myst is overrated. It was really fun in the moment, but for only for this matchup did I go and relisten. I really don;t think there is anything special about it. I do love this Empress, so that gets my vote.

In my opinion, this Myst is brutally over seeded. It hardly goes anywhere and doesn’t do anything 3 seed worthy in the 15 minutes it has. One day we will stop overrating Mysts (sorry Cap Myst). Still better than this Empress which is pretty standard Goontz to my ears.

This is easily my WJOTYMOTY- Worst Jam of the year matchup of the year

Initially, I didn't want to like this Myst (probably because I didn't want to see Philly three-peat the JOTY 😉), but after just two or three listens, there was no denying how fun, unique, and upbeat it is. The Michael Jackson/Wanna Be Startin Something jam that kicks off around 9:00 starts a great dance party, and it just never lets up. Even the segue into Spin Me is top notch.

Based on the region it's seeded in, I don't see this Myst making it to the Final Four, but I still think it's one of MY top four jams of the year.

I abstain lol. Neither of these jams made my top 64. By the time they played this Myst, they had played so many set II Goontz jams that they started becoming bathroom-break moments for me. (If I want lots of oontz, I'll go to a Disco Biscuits show!) All jokes aside, the Goontz jams are definitely fun, and I love that Goose explores new directions. But, like... I don't need a Goontz jam in set II of every show. My favorite thing about Goose is the improvisation and unpredictability. Goontz doesn't scratch either of those itches for me. Just my opinion. I respect that others felt differently.

I like this Myst - it is a really well-built jam that pieces together multiple phases in a pretty seamless way. None of the parts quite get "there" which for me is a prerequesite for a top tier Goose jam, but it is still bracket-worthy and wins this one.

This Empress is really really good, but the Myst is really really really really good. Love how it moves from the dancy funky vibe, to what is essentially a yeti jam, to a rad peak with Rick using an insanely dark and crunchy guitar effect. Great shit.

Don't sleep on the Empress though! Reminded me of the 6/12 Tumble, great shorter jam matched up against a behemoth.

Hopefully most of us can agree this Myst doesn't belong on the same field with the 2/8 EMG it will face a couple rounds from now

Never thought I would say this two weeks ago or so, but having dove in more on this specific matchup compared to others, the Empress > the Myst. A few months back thought Myst had a shot at JOTY due to recency bias after a great show, and while it's a great jam, it kind of lost its shine over time. This 6/17 Empress is unique and one of the top Goontz jams that I can recall - too bad it won't get through, but would listen to that over the Philly Myst all day if had to choose.

I liked both of these, but this Myst is huge - probably a Top 5 jam of the year. The Trevor bass solo and Rick crazy frog teases were fun in Empress, but not enough to beat the goliath that myst is. Also Empress should always be finished properly, so much better that way than unfinished. Myst is just something else man, so huge. Love it.

Seems like everyone here agrees this Myst is very overseeded. I thought this bumping Empress was arguably the most creative Goontz of the year. Slight edge to the 14 seed.

Went with Myst but don't understand the hype or ranking like multiple folks already stated. I'll be voting for whichever jam wins today's other matchup in Round 2.

The EDMpress is super fun, but not really JOTY material. Vote for Myst here, watch it get mauled by Torero in the next round.

Ive listened to this Philly set 2 more than anything else of 2025. It was so insane. Glad we were there. One day we will get Elmegs and (dawn)s in the JOTY brackets. Myst ftw

I've still yet to discover the appeal of this Myst. Too much repetition without ever reaching a special place. Empress it is.

Philly Myst as a 3-seed is rank comedy. Easily the most overranked jam in the bracket. It's one of those jams that dabbles in a little bit of everything while excelling at nothing, stitching half-developed ideas into a threadbare tapestry. At 25 minutes, it feels indulgent rather than expansive or emotive. I charitably ranked it as a 13 seed; 3 is laughably absurd.

Of course, as a high seed it draws a weak Empress entry I didn’t even bother to rank. Myst advances here, but if there’s any poetic justice in the world, this is its last round. One In, One Out.

Love this brand of Goontz in the Wilmington Empress though

Tough matchup! Myst was the top jam from Philly this year, but that Wimington Empress was so much fun.. GOONTZY dance party with a heavy Axel F theme/teases. My daughter had been asking me to play her Axel F (Crazy Frog version) for weeks before this, calling it -- "Bing Bong", so you can imagine how mindblown I was when Rick started playing the Axel F lick.. Relistening, I have to give the edge to Myst, even tho I rate Guilford a slight edge above this one despite the seeding. I voted Empress for the bing bongs
