Unfortunately for the Tumble that it goes up against a Creatures that is THIS good. One of the best jams of the year. Forgot how good it was.

Tumble hands down on this one.

That Indy Tumble is leaps and bounds above this Creatures, which is not even the best Creatures in the bracket. Sad people wonβt vote accordingly π
3 weeks ago
I don't think I am going to listen to Creatures ever again. Nothing special about it.
I love this Tumble. So much fun. Voted for Tumble.

Its seems that Indy tumble will not survive the 1st round but it was magical. That massive peak that seemed to go on forever until the tension finally released was cathartic. TBH if you are only listening to the songs and not seeing them (live, nugs, youtube) you are missing a big component of why these jams take on a life of their own and stay with people. This tumble will stay with me

Itβs close but Tumble all day on this one

Tumble was rocking. This was not my fav creatures of the year. Not sure why it was the only one to make the bracket

Voting for the hippie disco Tumble. Upset. Pains me to vote against Creatures and attendance bias but Tumble is a dance party beginning to end.

Okay I voted for Creature's mostly because it was my 64th birthday celebration and I may have been slightly under the influence of my homegrown fungi while anchored on the rail behind FOH platform. Wow the sound, the lights combined with joyous creation of four guys feeding off the moment. Fun fact for ya...they started the night with Pancakes which FN stomped! Being a newbie to all that is Goose (2/09/2022-First Ave) the wife and I enjoyed every outstate excursion to vibe with is tribe and will continue till I'm unable comprehend audible sounds or forced to give up my driving privileges. Cyall in FLA.-

I like this Tumble, sweet Goontz to close an otherwise underwhelming second set (the Pancakes and IYE really didn't do it for me...though the DMM and Animal from the first set were hot). Anyway, Creatures has really not been the massive jam vehicle it can and should be, as it was from late 2019 through 2023, with a few exceptions. In 2025, this version, as well as the Goosemas and Charlotte versions (which should have made top 64) are those exceptions. And while the Iowa City version doesn't tear up new ground, it is a really solid effort, especially coming out of those August run of single set shows. There was not much that stood out from those shows, but this Creatures definitely does and glad it was not overlooked as it absolutely deserves a top 32 spot in the bracket.

Funny how dismissive many of the voters are to other peopleβs tastes on this thread. They can both be good without the gaslighting lol. These matchups are tough when the product is so different, but weβre all here to have fun. Is it gonna be like this the whole time?

The Creatures was obviously really good but I love that hippie disco, so Tumble for me.

To dearchris31's point: At the time this Tumble was played in mid-June, Goontz was barely a thing, and the jam was lit. Then the band started played Goontz so regularly that the jams started to blend together for me. There were maybe 10-15 such jams when it was all said and done, and I'm fine with at least one of them making the bracket. More than that though? I dunno.
Re the Big Moderns: Agreed. Milwaukee in particular is the first example of this type of driving, celebratory, can't-stop-won't-stop jamming in 2025. I'm surprised that jam didn't make the bracket at all given the similarity to this Creatures (and that it came first). But I still think this Creatures has a uniqueness of positivity and sound that just resonated with me.

No reason for that Tumble to be seeded that low - it easily clears that Creatures
3 weeks ago
I knew from as soon as they introduced the new middle section to Creatures that they were eventually going to crack it open and extract a jam from there. I did not imagine that it was going to be something so exhilirating and distant from what Creatures typically is. Great jam that I will continue to revisit for years to come.

Unreal tumble. Was at the show. Need a big upset here.

I like the Tumble better than the Creatures, that's why I voted for it.

I donβt knowβ¦ donβt get the love for this Creatures nor the cold shoulder for the Tumble (although Iβm not a big fan of Goontz). They seem roughly on par with each other. The jam in Creatures is basically a version of a Big Modern jam they did like five times this year and I liked most of those more. This Tumble doesnβt compare to Chicago or any of the top versions from 24, but itβs my favorite Goontz of the year and from about the 12 minute mark to the end itβs pretty hot. Both good, not great. Tumble gets my vote here in an obviously losing effort.

Wild that over 100 people have voted for a Goontz (not proper) so far, especially over this Creatures, which may be the most FUN jam they played all year. Obviously Creatures wins, but this one should be like 95% in my opinion.
I think this is one of the weakest matchups overall in the tourney. The creatures is enjoyable but nothing jumps out to me about it, and the tumble is awesome but I think there is a lot better goontz out there this year. Tumble takes this one for me
3 weeks ago
Weakest 12 seed of all time?
A really nice nonstandard outside-the-box Creatures vs some cookie cutter Goontz
One of these isn't high on my list but deserves a spot in the bracket. The other? I'm not sure why we're even talking about it right now
Iowa Creatures sails along easily

That Creatures is AMAZING!!π€―. Rick, oh Rick, how do you do it?!? This is gonna go far.

Was wondering how the goontz would fare in its first outing and itβs a huge flop. Not surprising. But everyone in their head remembers hearing it and thinking this is not quite like anything weβve heard from them. It had its moment as a nice pacesetter for future goontz jams

This creatures is some of the best live music Iβve ever witnessed. Felt like it shouldβve been at least a 3 or even 2 seed
3 weeks ago
No idea how this Tumble made it in to the bracket...it's pretty mediocre goontz
3 weeks ago
We NEED to take the Indy tumble to the finals guys.. itβs only right. Cmon now!
Big, big fan of the goontz, but I feel like it has diminishing returns on playback. I stood in awe in the moment in Indy, but I've found myself less compelled to return to this Tumble than I originally imagined. Attendance bias be damned, I gotta give it to Creatures on this one.
This is one of the best Creatures in a long time and this Tumble is just basic Goontz. Don't get why it's in the bracket.
I had this Tumble ranked much higher than where it ended up being seeded, and the Creatures just slightly lowerβ¦ but I guess thatβs what makes all of this fun. While I donβt feel this Creatures is all that βadventurousβ, I do love the blissy vibe they findβ¦ and the marimba that Peter uses is the perfect addition. Rick really turns up the heat near the end of this one, with both the ripping pace and the slightly different tone he develops through his filters and effects. I think itβs good, but it didn't blow me away. The Tumble on the other handβ¦ wicked. An early example of that βgoontzyβ thing they explored in the summer/fallβ¦ and a good one at that. While I do feel that 2024 was the βYear of Tumbleβ, I have to give the nod to this version from Indianapolis. Kinda surprised it was ranked 45th overall, but Iβve still got it moving on here.

I didnβt even like the song Creatures until this jam. This was my first show too so thereβs a tiny attendance bias here.
When the entire crowd collectively goes βwow!β At the endβ¦ you know you witnessed something special.

Creatures by a LANDSLIDE! this tumble isnt even JOTY worthy, you silly goontz heads get out of here
3 weeks ago
Tumble absolutely gets the vote here. More patient and satisfying, a good blend of goontz and soaring Rick leads. Makes me want to dance! The creatures has a very bland mid point and rushes into its conclusion.

This Tumble rocks. Would have loved to have seen it live. That being said, this Creatures blows it straight out of the water.

Creatures wins this one comfortably for me. I had it as a 7-seed (no. 26 overall). The Tumble didn't make my bracket. I didn't include any Goontz jams at all, actually. They become really predictable as the year went along, and they're all very similar. That said, this Tumble was played before the predictability had set in. So, back in mid-June, it was effing awesome. It's a great jam for bringing people into Goose who might not otherwise be interested.
This Creatures is such an awesome, uplifting, energizing, driving jam. I felt like Goose started experimenting with such jams with the Anthem Big Modern at the end of 2024, and they've continued this year with this Creatures and several Big Moderns (Milwaukee, Sterling Heights, and Philly come to mind).
This upbeat Creatures with Rickβs soaring guitar along with Peterβs marimba keys should easily beat this Tumble that didnβt make my bracket.
Easy vote for Creatures. And I say that as a big fan of the goontz. Aside from the finishing peak, this Tumble feels like a pedestrian goontz jam. This Creatures is unique, unrelenting, and fun. It may even make it past Drip in the next round.
Love this Creatures and had it even higher than a 5 seed...this Tumble doesn't really check any boxes for me. Some fun goontz but still largely unremarkable. Creatures without a 2nd thought.
The Creatures is like the energizer bunny, the build just keeps on going. Tumble is a normal Tumble w a splash of Goontz. Easy vote here.
I understand the Tumble! Tough first round matchup though
3 weeks ago
This creatures is different and amazing with its just relentless driving build, I hope they jam creatures out like this more often.
I did not rank Indy Tumble and the only thing it does is Goontz for a bit. Not a close vote at all for me. I hope Creatures wins this very convincingly.
Don't understand the hype for this Tumble. I have the Creatures a bit lower than most but it's easily better out of these two
3 weeks ago
This Creatures is stunning (I wish there were video of it). I love the unorthodox jam structure/arrangement. Fun to see them try something different with a song that tends to drift formulaically. I had this at 24, and donβt think I overrated it.
Why is this Tumble even here? Because it has some Goontz? Yikes. I didnβt have it on my playlist at all. If Creatures doesnβt take 75% here, what are we even doing?
This Creatures is in the running for best peak of the year imo - just RELENTLESS drive
Goontz is fun, but I don't think this Tumble should have made the top 64
3 weeks ago
Fitting this a #5 vs. #12 matchup because this Tumble is a Cinderella pick.
Fond memories of both of these from live stream, and relistening was a delight! The only Creatures in this yearβs pool starts off strong, energy building the whole time and doesnβt ever relent.. great classic jamming. This Tumble on the other hand was my favorite Tumble of summer tour, and deserves a better seeding. This is the GOONTZ, and regardless how you feel about it, your body is moving to this one all the way to its glorious shredding peak. Greatest GOONTZ imo before CMAC. Tough choice!
